On the Desktop version, Console version, and Mobile version, Bees will target other enemies if they are closer than the player and can thus be distracted with statue spawned mobs or other trapped monsters. On the Desktop version, Console version, and Mobile version, in Classic difficulty, a spinning Flail is sufficient to kill any incoming Bees before they can reach the player. If the player does not have a Cobalt Shield or Obsidian Shield to avoid knockback, any grappling hook can be used to anchor the player to blocks. The Bees do little damage, but can easily become an annoyance as they can push the player around. However, standing in Honey will slow down the player. The Honey naturally found in Bee Hives can be used to craft Bottled Honey or provide passive health regeneration mid-fight. The amount of bees Queen Bee can summon is not infinite, 173 bees is the max amount of bees that can be active at once.įor more elaborate strategies on defeating Queen Bee, including weapon and arena recommendations, see Guide:Queen Bee strategies. If a player is using a bouncing weapon such as the Water Bolt, they need to be wary of the second Larva, lest they be targeted by the newly summoned, second Queen Bee. Occasionally, a Bee Hive will be large enough to possess 2 Larvae. In Multiplayer, Queen Bee will despawn upon the death of players just like any other boss, and will not follow them all the way back to the spawn. Bees do not drop Souls of Light, Souls of Night, Biome Keys, or Biome Key Molds. 
Once Queen Bee is defeated, the Witch Doctor NPC will spawn if there is a vacant house.
It is also possible early in the game if using a whip, which can break things behind solid blocks.
This is especially common if there are remaining larva within the Jungle late into the game, when it is possible to hit things anywhere on the screen, even behind solid blocks. The Larva can be broken by any damaging weapon, similar to a Pot, so many actions such as the Orichalcum armor's set bonus or a Star Cloak can break the Larva, causing Queen Bee to be unintentionally spawned. At low health, Queen Bee can do up to six charges in a row before changing her attack. In Expert Mode, Queen Bee's charges increase both in speed and number. The only way to properly despawn the boss outside killing it is for all players in the world to die at once. In multiplayer, if all players currently fighting Queen Bee die at the same time and any other players are alive at the time, the Queen Bee will pursue the other players even if they are hundreds or thousands of blocks away and will only swap aggro to a different player on the death of her current target. This means if a player were to use a Magic Mirror or any of its variants the Queen Bee will chase them back to their spawn point no matter the distance and depending on the spawn point location, will most likely enrage and very likely kill the player. 
On the Desktop version, Console version Verify and Mobile version, Queen Bee does not despawn when far away from the player. However, this enrage state is less aggressive than if the player were to fight her in any other surface biome, such as the Ocean. When fought on the Surface Jungle, Queen Bee will still enter an enrage state with faster and more aggressive attacks. When fought outside of the Underground Jungle, Queen Bee enrages, causing her movements to be more aggressive and firing stingers at a much faster rate. In Expert Mode, the speed of these attacks increases as Queen Bee takes damage. During this pattern, she will alternate between hovering above the player, and positioning herself to swoop in at the player from above. Similar to Hornets, Queen Bee will rapidly fire poisonous stingers at the player. During this time the variables for how many bees she summons could be 6, 12 or 18. She will spawn Bees while hovering (which will include larger ones in Expert mode), which attack the player. She will level herself horizontally with the player and fly back and forth three times in an attempt to ram the player. Queen Bee has three distinct attack patterns:
